Via Bau, 1 - Frazione Piscinas di Ingurtosu - Arbus (Medio Campidano)
The magic of a place immersed in the wilderness of the Costa Verde, in south-western Sardinia. The highest dunes in Europe, bordered by Mediterranean maquis with centuries-old junipers, a site that is a monument of industrial archaeology included in a Unesco World Heritage area that stretches over 18 km of deserted beach. An emerald sea, fine sand and the wind sculpting the dunes ...
Location
On the west coast of Sardinia, on the well-known Costa Verde, lies the Le Dune Piscinas Ecoresort & Beach. In the area between Capo Pecora and Capo Frasca, the hotel is only 150 metres from the sea and is located directly on the Piscinas beach, a long stretch of golden sand dunes surrounded by junipers. The area is still virgin and uncrowded by mass tourism. The locality of Ingurtosu, a hamlet of the municipality of Arbus, was until the middle of the last century, together with Montevecchio, an important mining area par excellence in Sardinia. Its name comes from the Sardinian name of the griffon vulture that populated the skies, Su Gurturgiu precisely.
Charming recommends to rent a car to those who choose this hotel.
Hotel
Le Dune Piscinas, directly on the beach, reopens in the coming season of 2024 after three years of work: a sustainable 5-star hotel, attentive and respectful of its extraordinary surroundings, with a contemporary design that harmonises with the external environment and a spectacular nature that is the real protagonist here.
The renovation project has enhanced the original structure of the old mining warehouse by introducing new design elements. Marble and basalt, wrought iron and wooden furniture, Sardinian fabrics and traditional decorations skilfully updated, narrate coherence and respect for the sacredness of a place to be protected and preserved. The entrance from the original gallery travelled by carts carrying extracted minerals is a tribute to the industrial past of this wonderful land.

Restaurant
A food and wine proposal united by a rigorous choice of quality ingredients, favouring those of local origin, but not limited to purely territorial cuisine. From the seafront American Bar "I Giechi" on the piazzetta to the beach bar, to the Ginepro restaurant that covers all the time slots for daily dining, to the Rosso Tramonto restaurant with gourmet proposals for dinner.
The mining village is now abandoned, but, inhabited until the late 1960s, it was populated by almost five thousand people and was the management centre of the Ingurtosu and Gennamari mines. Its historical importance has earned it recognition as a monument of industrial mining archaeology and it is part of a vast area declared a 'cultural heritage of humanity' by UNESCO. The area, still little frequented by mass tourism, is a small paradise of relaxation for lovers of the sea and fishing, both traditional and underwater, who are advised to be cautious as the entrance to the water is deep and the currents can be very strong at certain times of the year. The enchanting beaches of Scivu, S'Acquarucci and Torre dei Corsari are definitely worth a visit.
